Anan wildlife Observatory offers visitors the rare opportunity to enjoy
black and brown bear viewing in the Tongass National Forest of
Southeastern Alaska!

The short walk into the observatory takes the group
into BEAR COUNTRY!

Anan Creek supports an abundant Pink Salmon run which
attracts concentrations of black and brown bear.
The trail follows the Anan Lagoon shoreline through
cedar and spruce old growth rain forest.

Harbor Seals are among the many marine mammals that
feed near Anan Creek.
Caution should be used on the trail-bears use it too!
The path to Anan Wildlife Observatory is an easy to
moderate mostly boardwalk trail.
An outhouse style "rest room" is available
near the top of the trail.
Anan Observatory platform consists of a multi-level
view deck overlooking Anan Creek.
Anan Observation Platform features a covered viewing
area-remember you will be visiting a rain forest!

The photo blind offers photographers great opportunity
to "shoot" bears at stream level.
Bears can be safely viewed up close (with in 50' or
less) from the photo blind.
